During the next Open House at Haus of Owl, Saturday, December 14th, you will have the chance to watch, for the first time in BC, the documentary Universal State of Mind. This is an international Hip Hop film awarded in France. The screening will be followed by a Q&A with the director, Angélique Germain.
Universal State of Mind deals with societal issues through the eyes of Hip Hop artists from Brazil, Senegal, France and Serbia. Despite their different historical, political and cultural backgrounds, destinies cross between rebirth, awakening and conviction. All linked by one state of mind...

Angélique Germain
Angélique Germain, aka NJ, grew up with Hip Hop culture in France. During her studies, she founded the web media Hip Open in 2011. As a Hip Hop journalist, she also created the Hip Open Association to organize concerts, debates, exhibitions and workshops. Then, she wrote, directed and co-produced the film Universal State of Mind, which came out in 2015. NJ, as a songwriter and poet, designed in 2023 the Poetic Circle concept, which unites mindfulness and poetry. She also offers other activities across poetry, such as pedagogic workshops, awareness campaigns and chronicles in spoken-word for a radio show, with her last project: MAKE SPACE FOR POETRY.
