Sitting with Grace: The Documentary

A documentary tribute to the beauty, strength, and resilience of the human spirit.

At the heart of this documentary is an unconventional sculpture. A beautiful woman in an elegant gown.

Crafted from raw and humble materials, gathered from the streets of Victoria, her symbolism runs deep, touching on themes of addiction, mental health struggles, poverty, and mortality.

Tanya Bub’s - the artist behind the magic - intention was simple yet profound: to provide a safe space for our street community to share their stories.

It worked.

This moving and powerful unscripted 1-hour documentary features a glimpse into the lives of 8 members of our local street community.

What started as a 10-minute documentary evolved into a one-hour testament to the courage, resilience, and strength of people facing adversity.

Eight compelling interviews with diverse members of the street community showcase their humor, intelligence, and character.

Fostering empathy and combatting prejudice

Through the magical power of Art, Sitting with Grace takes a unique approach to foster empathy and combat prejudice against individuals experiencing homelessness and adversity.

Grace’s throne envelops and protects its sitters, serving as a powerful reminder that the sitter must be received without judgment.

Street individuals who interacted with the project quickly grasped its underlying message, who were also invited to share their thoughts and experiences on pieces of cardboard, and these personal narratives were incorporated into the sculpture. This gave voice and visibility to those often marginalized by society.

This documentary serves as a bridge, connecting people from all walks of life, breaking down judgment and prejudice, and has the potential to help reunite our community.

Popcorn and Candy included in the ticket price.
