Welcome to Tassels and Talons! Tassels and Talons is a monthly get-to-together, gathering our city's shiniest and sultriest — showgirls, burly babes, and drag royalty alike. This open-format meetup is a space to woodshed new acts, rhinestone costumes, swap industry wisdom, or just revel in the art of burlesque. These workshops are class lead, encouraging questions and answers and co-working together.

Stage Ready | The Poetry + Performance Workshop
Stage Ready has been designed for slam poets who are either ready to take their poetry performances to the stage, or who are wanting to take it to the next stage! Facilitated by Natasha Jade who has been actively performing poetry. Through the success of her reception into the Hamilton Poetry Scene, she has worked with Hamilton Youth Poets as part of their mentorship program. Going on to win several slams including the 2017 Hamilton underground indies. Join us while Natasha Jade guides this 3 week series full of practical poetry tips!

Creative Lighting Workshop
Join Aaron for a discussion on lighting principles, followed by a live demonstration of various lighting techniques utilizing the power and portability of Elinchrom strobes and modifiers around Haus Of Owl!!
About Aaron: Aaron is a headshot and editorial portrait photographer who loves to showcase his subjects with a flair for the dramatic. From the hillsides of India, to his studio in Vancouver, Aaron engages his viewers with lighting that is crafted to make his subjects larger than life.

Open Screen
Open Screen is Haus of Owl’s monthly gathering where local filmmakers bring their visions to life on the big screen. Inspired by the spirit of an “open mic,” this event offers a welcoming space for creators to share their films with a live audience—whether it’s a rough cut, a finished piece, or something in between. It’s a night of storytelling, connection, and community, where filmmakers and film lovers come together to celebrate independent cinema in an intimate and supportive setting. Victoria Film Industry Mixer
An afternoon of connecting and collaborating with people that work or are interested in the film industry here in Victoria and the surrounding areas. Usually we mix and mingle for the first half hour then we feature a special speaker, filmmaker or process that everyone is interested in learning to take ourselves to the next level. Then we network for the last half hour again. We are 1 years old and going strong. Many attendees have gained strong skills and local work as a result of attending and networking at these monthly sold out events.

Make beats with friends. Join Victoria’s beat making community to learn, share tips + techniques, and experiment with sample-based music. Open to all experience levels and welcoming of all communities and identities.

Garden Sessions
Victoria’s one and only all originals open mic and feature series is back for another season! Bring your songs, poems, jokes or any other talents you wanna show off. Only rule is it has to be original.

Gather, Socialize, and share! Haus Socials are an opportunity that happen once a month, where we gather, go around and share what we're up to! These monthly mixers are members only and are a wonderful way to grow community while cultivating creativity. Jake Insley will be offering headshots for the first hour to all members who don’t have a photo for the Haus of Owl website. Jake will be taking photos in the Athena.
